What's New at PocketFives Training?
It's time to get trained!
PocketFives Training's Jeff Miller took some time out of his busy schedule to answer a few questions for us about the successful
poker training site. PocketFives Training has an impressive group of instructors including author Jon "Apestyles" Van Fleet, Alexander "Assassinato" Fitzgerald, Mike "Gags30" Gagliano, Grayson "the_dean22" Nichols, and David "GhettoFabolous" Randall.
PokerSoftware: What is your involvement at PocketFives Training?
Jeff Miller: I am basically responsible for the day-to-day at PocketFives Training. I recruit coaches, schedule videos, and manage our customer support. Lee Pryztula, who is a super talented guy, hands our actual video editing.
PokerSoftware: Tell us about what goes into making a video. What software is being used and what happens behind-the-scenes after an instructor submits his work?
Jeff Miller: From a coach's perspective, all they need is some screen-capture software (we use Camtasia) and a good microphone. Once they get the recording done and saved in the proper format, they upload it to our server. That's where Lee takes over. He watches every video, checking for audio, video, and content quality. If there are audio issues, he can often clean them up, but on occasion we've had to have a coach re-dub it. After that, it is a matter of getting it on the site. I don't know how Lee does it, but I assume black magic and/or ritual sacrifice are involved.
PokerSoftware: Tell us about some of the newer additions to your already impressive instructional team.
Jeff Miller: One of the things I like best about P5s Training is the stability of instructors. We have a really solid group of guys who have been around since the beginning. That gives me a lot of freedom to bring new, lesser-known guys in and give them a go. There hasn't been a better example than John "Drewpeacoq8" Gonzalez. He came on board last January and has been a content machine for us.
We also added two other guys, both of whom are well known in the P5s community: Scott "stpauli111" Hall and Rory "mcandrews3rd" Andrews. Both have only put out a few videos for us, but we have more in the pipeline for early this year.
PokerSoftware: Is there anything exciting you can share with us coming up in 2014?
Jeff Miller: I think the biggest thing is the return of Jon "Apestyles" Van Fleet. He took off nearly all of 2013 from making videos, but has returned with a vengeance. He has always made really great content, but I think what he's doing now is his best work to date.
PokerSoftware: What differentiates PocketFives Training from other training sites?
Jeff Miller: I don't spend a lot of time scouting the competition because I can't control what they do, but I think our two biggest draws are the consistent quality of our content and the PocketFives community as a whole. We have a clear focus on what we put out and I believe that helps us produce at a high level with everything we publish.
PokerSoftware: Are there any promotions coming up at PocketFives Training?
Jeff Miller: We are feeling as though Cupid himself shot us with an arrow straight to the heart. That loving feeling needs to be shared, so from now until Valentine's Day (February 14), we have lovingly reduced our pricing to the lowest level in at least a year. The six-month rate has been cut from $179.90 to $125. Our 12-month subscription has been reduced even more, from $329.45 to $200.
You can check out PocketFives Training for free via a two-day trial. If you are impressed with what you see, you can join PocketFives Training for $29.95 a month. For a limited time, you can have full access to PocketFives Training for just $125 for six months or $200 for a full year with the Valentine's Day promotion. Learn more.
